Dr. Jian Wang received a medical degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and practiced medicine in China. She then obtained a Ph.D. degree in tumor biology and immunotherapy from McGill University in Canada. She has worked in the biotechnology industry studying antisense gene suppression of inflammatory pathways. Dr. Wang was a visiting fellow at the Laboratory of Immune Cell Biology at the NIH National Cancer Institute, where her research focused on the function of Beta-2 microglobulin with the co-stimulatory molecular B7 in major histocompatibility complex (MHC) – T cell receptor interactions. She received NIH Intramural Research Training Awards (IRTA) and was an IRTA fellow at the Laboratory of Immunology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, where her research focused on the recognition of MHC class I complexes by natural killer cell receptors. She also participated in studies on the function of cytotoxic T lymphocytes in virus infection and protective mucosal immunity against human immunodeficiency virus infection. Dr. Wang has been working at CSR, NIH as a Scientific Review Officer for about 20 years.
